Tackle Nigeria’s insecurity

NINSED Workshop Jos 2012

(Participants are discussing Nigeria’s security challenges)

To tackle Nigeria’s security challenges and to provide practical solutions, FES Nigeria in cooperation with the National Defence College (NDC) aims to strengthen the capacity of the Nigeria Network on Security & Democratic Governance (NINSED).

NINSED is a network of civil society organizations, associations, institutions and individuals actively involved in the reform and democratic governance of the security sector in Nigeria. It was established in 2007 and tries to engage and influence security policy makers with the aim and objectives of democratizing and reforming security sector and governance.

The workshop was held on the 20-21 June 2012 in Jos, a city which is repeatedly shocked by violent clashes.
During the two days, participants from the security agencies, research institutes and civil society discussed the security situation in the country, and ways to improve information sharing between member institutions, inter agency training and cooperation, and advocacy towards the improvement of security sector reform.
